From its inception, Interise has focused on growing as a sustainable organization. Incorporated by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a fiscally independent nonprofit organization in 2007, Interise created a board of directors with Josh Tolkoff as chairman. In 2007, Interise worked to diversify its funding stream with a focus on more earned income and individual donors. Our first annual appeal reached its target of $30,000 in December 2007. In addition, Interise received Massachusetts government contracts totaling $115,000 in 2007. Individual donations grew from 5% to 24% of our budget in 2007, and government contracts increased from 7% to 22%.

As we continue to expand and educate more urban entrepreneurs, we need additional funding to cover the costs associated with entering new communities. We’ve succeeded in our drive to increase the number of Interise individual donors since 2007. However, we need additional support to reach our goals.
